Game Lodges:

Delta Camp

Delta Camp, in the heart of the Okavango Delta, offers understated luxury in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Our chalets and unique tree-house are designed and built to take advantage of the many indigenous, old-growth trees of the riverine forest. They are constructed of natural materials and are all individually decorated and designed, with en-suite facilities, hot and cold running water, a shower-with-a-view, and a variety of beds and areas in which to relax. The lounge and dining area are similarly elevated and command sweeping views of the surrounding forests and flood plains.

Excursions with your own professional guide are taken in traditional dug-out canoes, the famous mekoro of the Okavango, and on foot. Wildlife of every kind abounds, and the bird life is prolific. Our guides are born and bred in the Okavango and know the area like the backs of their hands. The experience is cultural as well as of a wildlife and wilderness nature, as our guides hail from a nearby village in which visitors are welcome to enter, meet the headman of elders, and the guide's family. At Delta Camp, accessible only by air, a true wilderness experience awaits you.

Vumbura

Little Vumbura is water-based camp, on a wonderful island along with its sister camp, Vumbura. This exclusive, 5-tented camp, offers wonderful expeditions via 'mokoro', under the experienced hand of our polers. There's quite an art to this - and if you're lucky the guides may offer to teach you a skill - you never know when you might need it!
Little Vumbura also offers land-based activities such a guided walks, walking safaris, day and night game drives, fishing, and birding.
An opportunity to visit Gombo - one of the most remote villages in Botswana, is also on offer to our Little Vumbura guests.

Mombo

Tucked away amongst lushest Africa, this camp runs along the northwestern tip of Chief’s Island. As one of the Okavango ‘s Delta’s ‘best-kept-secrets’, it has large concentrations of wildlife. Breathtaking views over flood plains filled with an abundance of wildlife species, keeps eager eyes and binoculars indulgently trained on every move, for lazy hours on-end.

A further feature of this area is the regular sightings of cat predators at play. A sighting of a stalk or an actual ‘catch’ is equivalent to the crowning feather, in the true safari-goers trunk of tales! Scrumptious fare accompanies game walks, game drives, hide viewings, or camp evenings, where an outdoor ‘kgotla’ (boma) offers superb opportunity for endless hours of starlit conversational ramblings.

Little Mombo

Little Mombo is situated on Mombo Island, adjoining the northern tip of Chief’s Island, and is within the Moremi Game Reserve region. The camp offers abundant big game viewing, arguably the best in Botswana. A definite highlight being the mass concentration of game on the plains, and the predators often seen in action around them! Leopard sightings are particularly good too.

The three ‘premier’ guest rooms overlook a floodplain teeming with game.. These superbly furnished rooms, are connect via walkway to the dining room, pub and living area, to give visitors some distance form the wildlife which readily meanders through the camp!

Xakanakxa

Moremi Game Reserve – Permanent Okavango Delta

Set in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, which is rated as being one of the finest game viewing areas in Africa, Xakanaxa Camp has one of the best locations in Botswana ensuring land and water safaris all year round. The camp, with its eclectic mix of furnishings from all over Africa, has 12 tastefully furnished tents with en-suite facilities, a dining room, lounge/bar area, fire deck and plunge pool all slightly raised on wooden platforms with spectacular views over the lagoon.

At night, the camp is transformed by dozens of paraffin lamps and candles, giving it a magical quality of warmth and the subtle comfort of home away from home.

The camp faces out over the Xakanaxa Lagoon on the Khwai River, where boat and mokoro trips explore the sinuous channels and floodplains of the Okavango Delta, one of Africa’s greatest natural wonders. Birding in the area is excellent, especially in the spring and summer months when the migrants are breeding.

Linyanti

The Linyanti Tented Camp is found in the northerly-most region of the Linyanti Concession, not far from the great Linyanti River and marshes. Massive lagoons and steadily flowing rivers abound with papyrus and phragmites in this area, and contrast powerfully with the drier interior woodland areas. These heavily forested riverine fringes blend boldly into the dry countryside, and this area is best know for its herds of Elephant, Buffalo and Waterbuck. The marshes are home to Red Lechwe, Sitatunga, Hippo, Crocodiles and wonderful bird life.

Moving along the waterways buck, hippo, crocodile and much diverse bird life are to be found. Activities influence night and day game drives, game and bird walks, and canoeing (in sturdy Canadian canoes) and boating along the smaller waterways.
The camp is a small and intimate camp with only 5 tented rooms that each has en-suite facilities.

Savuti

This camp lies along what was once the fast flowing Savuti Channel, which stopped flowing in 1980. This massive river system, is currently wide open grassland, and a phenomenal water-hole with an excellent viewing facility has been set-up, for eager photographers, offering truly up-close-and-toe-nail photo-opportunities.
This is a small and intimate camp in an isolated area, for true peace and quiet, with only 5 large and comfortable walk-in tents to be found here.

There are many activities to choose from including day and night game drives, and walks with armed and expert game-guides. We also have a number of superb hides in this area, to further facilitate the excellent game viewing there is to be enjoyed in this area. Sightings include all the major predators – Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and Wild Dog, as well as Elephant, since the water-hole directly in front of camp, is the only water-hole in this large area, particularly in the winter months.

Chitabe

Chitabe is known for its great game viewing opportunities, and the adventures begins at the landing strip, with everything from giraffe to impala and warthogs, literally meters from the runway. Rooms are raised on teak walking platforms – and great use of mahogany and marula woods are made in the main lounge, dining and bar areas.

The rare Wild Dog also offers a show-stopping viewing opportunity in this area. And if this isn’t enough, a dinner under the African mopanies and star-spilt night sky, with silver-service, chorus-accompanied entertainment, could round things off nicely.

Guides will take guests to wherever a lion-kill or big game sighting may be, fearing nothing to ensure that guests get the best viewing and photographing opportunities.

Chitabe Trails Camp

This camp is not far from Chitabe camp, but is a more rustic offering, with on-the-ground tented accommodation only. Right on the very reeded riverine, one finds an abundance of wildlife, especially since all showers look head-on to this African wildlife buffet. Reedbuck, elephant and much more to feast on at immediate eye-level!

You may even find that a lioness defiantly meanders through camp, when least expected – which could mean that guests need to remain tent-bound until the dangerous feline continues on her path. This experience will definitely not disappoint, and offers a true “Wilderness” experience, for the guest wanting a truly close encounter with wildest Africa.

Duba Plains

Duba Plains is found in the northern-most reaches of the Okavango Delta. Big game and wildlife are a-plenty in this area, making this a lion, and lion-viewing paradise.

Some of the highest concentrations of lion, and some of the largest buffalo herds in Africa are found here. The lions have become so accustomed to feeding on buffalo kill here, that you are very likely to see such a kill, or the remains of such a kill in this area. Lion’s have learnt how to move in packs to bring down large buffalo to feast on over a period of days.

The small and intimate camp is built on an island shaded by large ebony, fig and garcinia trees and surrounded by expansive plains, which are seasonally flooded.

Jacana

This is a refreshingly rustic yet colour-imbued camp. Guests will normally boat into the lodge, except when the water levels are really low. This is a small basic camp, but has unbelievable positioning. The upper-deck dining area is truly inspired, over-looking watery sun-rises and inked-striped moon-sets – superb! This is a great experience for honeymooners or anyone wanting an authentic Okavango Delta experience, with extensive waterways and channels (changing as often as the seasons do), and bringing new animal habitats and wildlife to the area.

This intimate experience is one to be savoured, and will not disappoint the discerning traveler.

Jao Camp

This camp is situated in the Okavango Delta’s Jao Reserve, an area of 60,000 hectares. It lies to the west of the Mombo Region, on a densely wooded, palm-fringed oval-shaped island. Jao can offer both land and water activities, depending on the levels of the Okavango’s floodwaters. This area comprises a superb variety of habitats, ranging from permanent waterways and lagoons on the one extreme to thick Kalahari-like soils on the other.
The camp has nine magnificently-situated rooms, raised on wooden decks above the lush palms below. Inter-leading wooden walkways join the rooms, the dining area and the lounge. A canopy of ancient indigenous trees, with sausage trees and leadwoods among them, encircles this splendid camp. Each thatched room has en-suite facilities, including an outdoor shower area, and private ‘sala’ for sleepy siestas.
Jao is a multi-activity camp, offering everything from mokoro-boating, to fishing, guided walks, game drives and night drives, all depending on the cyclical water-levels, of course!
And the outdoor ‘kgotla’ (boma) provides great opportunity for wining-and-dining under the star-spilt skies!

Kaparota

Kaparota is found on a tranquil shaded island in the northerly Vumbura Concession. The island is filled with huge sausage trees, and five Meru-style tents with en-suite bathrooms are raised on decks, offering wonderful views over surrounding islands and flood plains.

Although this is a year-round land and water-based camp, mokoro excursions, fishing and birding opportunities are incredible with a huge diversity in bird-species for the viewing, to be found here. Unusual bird-species to be seen include the Brown Firefinch, African Hawk Eagle, Rufousnaped Lark and Pel’s fishing owl.

This island is connected to the main island via a walkway-bridge, overlooking the channel.

Kings Pool

Lush grasslands, riverine forestation and the dry Savute River Channel characterize this premier camp, bordering the Linyanti Swamp in northern Botswana. This fertile area is notable for large Elephant populations, along with Impala, Lechwe, Kudu, Zebra, Giraffe, Sitatunga, Sable, Roan, Waterbuck, Buffalo and antelope.
The camp overlooks the flourishing hippo-filled Kings Pool Lagoon and the Linyanti River system. As one of the noisiest wildlife camps in Africa, your days and nights will be filled with everything from pre-dawn bird-song, to afternoon elephant trumpet-rambles, and evening round-the-boma lion roaring!

A private his-and-hers bathroom, outdoor shower, private splash pool and sala will further ensure your comfort in this idyllic setting. One of the firm favourites, however, is the experience of the under-ground hide over-looking a waterhole – up close and toe-nail personal!
And then, of course, there are always the distractions of Mokoro-boating trips through the reed and papyrus swamps, guided walks, night and day drives, birding, fishing and swimming to shrug off the lazy afternoon siestas.

Kwetsani

Kwetsani Island Camp is found in the 60 000 hectare private Jao Reserve. The Island’s water-levels change yearly, creating a diversity of animal and bird offerings at different times throughout the year. This small luxury ten-bedded ‘tree-house’ camp is surrounded by lush vegetation, including the ever-inquisitive Vervet monkey, which jumps from branch to branch across the raised decks that look out over the vast open plains.

Kwetsani offers both land and water activities, making everything from game viewing via mokoro, to wonderful island-oasis explorations on foot, possible. Game drives are always a highlight, and the deeper lagoons in the area offer all sorts of interesting life, such as unexpected hippo and crocodile sightings.

Duma Tau - Linyanti

This northern-based camp is built under a shady grove of mangosteen trees, overlooking a large hippo-filled lagoon within the Linyanti waterway system.
Day and night drives are offered along the Linyanti and Savuti Channels, as well as short nature walks with masterfully informing and entertaining guides. Activities are diverse, allowing guests the opportunity to roam on land, on foot and via water.

The many hides in the area offer guests’ hours of undisturbed and indulgent wildlife viewing, as this is truly big game country - with elephant, hippo and crocodile antics making them regular stars of this camp.

Pom Pom

This camp is found to the west of the Moremi Game Reserve, in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Pom Pom Camp is shaded by giant mangosteen trees, and is perfectly positioned as it looks across a scenic lagoon, with regular displays of ‘wildlife at work’.

This camp furthermore has both land and water-based activities, including day and night game drives, lazy meanders by mokoro and guided walks. This vintage camp has only six tented rooms, and its small intimate feel makes this camp an authentic experience for the safari-goer seeking the true African experience.

Xigera - Canoeing Safari

For travelers seeking new adventures, there is no better way to experience the Okavango than to mokoro through its unique system of waterways, camping out on its remotest islands. Xigera, set in the heart of the Delta, is one of the Okavango’s best kept secrets, being a year-round water-camp, as it is situated in the midst of this Okavango waterland paradise.

The adventure commences soon after the guests have landed – access into the area being via plane only. Guests meet up with their guides and BaYei polers, and are taken by boat to Xigera.

The 8 room camp is built within a shady grove, and overlooking an action-packed floodplain and featuring a watering-hole. Xigera has something for everyone, including excellent bird-watching opportunities, game drives, boating and mokoro-ing, in order to lap up the luxury of Africa at its wildest.
